Here are some of the many thoughts channeled by vandergraafk with respect to Paige's talent as a sketch artist. Ms. Foxfire and vandergraafk - in riposte - got me started. Here's what they said and how I replied:
I keep forgetting to mention this and I meant to mention it when I started this thread. When Paige was first introduced to us in season four, she was a painter. What ever happened to that subplot? It was completely dropped and I, for one, am sad to see that happen.
Where Piper had her cooking and Phoebe had her... um... dating... Paige should have had her painting. Mind you, we were given many false starts of hobbies Paige has (including the painting and also singing).
vandergraafk mused:
One could equally mention Paige's temp jobs. Suddenly they disappeared. Her painting was useful only with respect to the muses episode. Other than that, when did they need this talent?
So, then it was my turn FINALLY! "That's like so cool. I'm glad SOMEBODY remembered that I could paint. Actually, well whenever I had some free time and you know with Phoebe having issues and Piper dealing with Leo and Wyatt and the club, I hardly ever had any free time ... I did doodle. I have an entire notebook of doodles on Phoebe: Phoebe with Jason, Phoebe with Drake, Phoebe with Dex, Phoebe with Leslie, did I forget any? Then, I have the drawings I did when I was the goddess of war. Yeah, I mean those robes really were not my style, but I did doodle Phoebe as the goddess of love. And, oh yes, how I could I resist Phoebe as a genie?"

Ms. Foxfire commented further:
It works out if they don't have immediate access to the book of shadows. They could have also used it just as a subplot, just having her painting things here and there.
Paige's temp jobs were more or less a sidequest for her to go through on her own. You know, to prove that she is independent from the other two Halliwells.
Back to painting, why didn't the writers think of making that her permanent job. I mean, it might have seemed too *Prue becomes a photographer*.
I would also like to mention the reason why I created this topic. Let's set ourselves in the beginning of season eight, we're at the supposed funeral of the Halliwell sisters. Paige becomes upset over the fact that she doesn't have as many mourners as her sisters. Personally, I'd like to say... WTH?! Paige has done so much good as her time as a Charmed One and I find it sad that the writers decided to write her as the sister no one remembers.
"Well," Paige replied, "I did do some sketches of demons. But it was kind of hard to find the time when we were constantly under attack. I did do a couple of sketches of the Avatars: Alpha and Beta. And, I did do a sketchy sketch of Sarpedon. There were so many others. How was I to find the time? But, I'm glad that SOMEBODY thought it important to sketch demons. I mean did anybody ever wonder where the sketches in the Book of Shadows came from? SOMEBODY had to sketch them. Yeah, okay, Phoebe did add some snapshots of Cole. Come on, snapshots? Like I could have done that. And, Piper, when she went nuts after Prue's death, she was hell bent on defacing the sketches we had in the book after she vanquished each one. HELLO! It was and is a very old book that should be cherished and respected just like the leather bound portfolio I put all of my sketches and doodles in."
