BACCARA
Sent from six month in the future back to the past by the new leader of the Underworld, Baccara has important message for Cole. Bearing the wedding band that Cole, the new Source, had given to Baccara as proof, Baccara tells Cole that Miles, the new love interest of Phoebe, must die. That unless Cole aids the Angel of Death and helps bring about Miles's demise, Phoebe will keep preventing Miles from dying until she brings about her own death.
Baccara expects that Cole will resist the suggestion. Indeed, Cole questions the whole premise. Helping Miles die could hardly help Cole gain back Phoebe's trust and confidence. As anticipated by future Cole, Baccara takes on the responsiblity for killing Miles. Alas, for Baccara, though he fails to kill Miles, his knowledge of the Charmed Ones and access to future magic, allows him to take on and withstand the attack of the sisters. He decides to alter his mission. Rather than aid a weak-kneed present Cole, future Baccara will with the help of his spineless present self go after the Charmed Ones himself and unite the Underworld under his, not Cole's, leadership.
Future Baccara and present day Baccara nearly succeed. Two of the sisters, Paige and Phoebe, are turned to dust after Baccara disempowers the sisters of their powers. Leo orbs Piper away just in time before she, too, is turned to dust. While mourning their loss, a devastated Piper is persuaded by Leo that all is not lost. Find the time ripple that Phoebe's original saving of Miles's life had caused would allow Piper to undo what had just happened. Go back in time herself and Piper can stop Phoebe from saving Miles's life in the first place and thus prevent a time ripple from opening. Future Baccara will be unable to complete his mission.
Baccara is never vanquished in Season 5, Episode 8: A Witch in Time. Because the timeline has changed, he may never become Cole's advisor. He may remain the spineless warlock that he is in the present.
