Is it safe to assume that Grams experienced her six engagements, which included four actual marriages, during the 20 odd years she raised Prue, Piper, and Phoebe? I wonder what kind of effect having - several - different father figures appear in and out of their childhoods effected the girls. It might explain the girls had such trouble finding real love, or even understanding what it was. They never actually had a model of it to follow while growing up.

Good point. It certainly might explain why Phoebe had more crushes, boyfriends, one-night stands or whatever one might call it. Certainly, it produced the opposite reaction in Piper. Even when she and Leo "split", she is most reluctant to seek out new companionship. Indeed, it is only when she is under a spell does she sleep with Greg the Fireman. And, Prue wasn't exactly a serial sleeper. Jilted, she was angry at Roger for a long time until she found her way back to Andy. And that's about where it ended.

I don't think these marriages would've taken place while Penny was raising the sisters. Dating and raising three grandchildren while also fighting demons and protecting her girls from them? It seems too much for me. I have always believed that they took place prior to Patty's death. So whether you accept 1964 or 1967 as Jack/Allen's DOD, it still leaves about eleven years at minimum for those four marriages and six engagements to take place, and since I've never gotten the impression that these marriages/engagements lasted long, I think eleven years probably isn't much of a stretch.
