Finally, we learn more about Paige's past. Much like Phoebe, Paige is a rebellious youth. Like Phoebe, Paige is a thorn in her adopted parents' side. Yet, we learn that Paige has always had the power to orb. She just was not aware of it. The power remained latent and only manifested itself in times of eminent threat to life and limb. Another great episode that also sees Cole and Phoebe get married, though not really!

Judging by how her parents described her, it's amazing she didn't show this ability plenty of times as a youth. I mean, fighting on school property? It may not be life threatening, but it is dangerous.

Yes, for Paige's backstory and the necessity to save her the embarrassment of accidentally orbing, they probably needed to tone down the rebellious side a bit. These fights, though, were probably not knock down, drag out battles to death. They probably involved a lot of scratching and hair-pulling, if you catch my drift!

Ok, its a great episode, but we don't ever really get an explaination for how Paige when from rebel without a cause to social worker. She keeps saying to her parents "but i don't turn out this way". Was the huge change solely because her parents died? I would have thought that losing her parents would have sent her even more off the rails, especially as she blamed herself for their death.

As it should have. Surely, she was devastated by the loss. To the extent that she held herself responsible, she would have been riven with grief. Another story line in need of development!
