Billie's powers expand exponentially as she discovers the fantastic range of her power of projection. Her coach is a mild-mannered Chinese servant who ostensibly arranges for the successful transfer in guardianship of an ancient wand. Billie meets a young Christy, imprisoned in the past and in a cave by demons. The episode concludes with Billie seeking present-day Christy.

Words cannot begin to describe how disappointing this episode truly is. Sandwiched between two good episodes - Payback's a Witch and The Last Temptation of Christy - Twelve Angry Zen moves at a virtual snail's pace. The writing is flat, the humor practically non-existent, and its raison d'etre minimal. Perhaps we should call this the Affirmative Action Episode since it likely was the result of criticism leveled at Charmed during Season 7 for the dearth of Chinese characters for a series ostensibly set in San Francisco. So, here's Charmed's moment of Zen: we get the Chinese Zodiac without any explanation as to how western wicca melds with eastern philosophy, an absence that plagued Season 4's Enter the Demon and Season 1's Dead Man Dating. If we exclude the marvelous Jennifer Tang who appeared in Season 3's Demon Who Came in from the Cold and Season 8's Generation Hex, that's about it for Chinese-Americans in Charmed.
