For a series set in San Francisco, there were surprisingly few Asian demons, warlocks or witches. In 2005, this became a point of criticism of Charmed for its alleged failure to more accurately reflect the community the show was set in. Yet, in 1998 the fourth episode of Charmed had a Chinese theme. In season 4, once again Chinese myths and traditions are brought into play as we witness the events of Enter the Demon unfold.
The main plot is less interesting than the subplot which features a lollipop sucking Paige envious of her new older sister Phoebe. As nascent witch Paige practices potion-making at the behest of Piper, she decides to experiment a little. Once again, Paige gets much more than she bargained for. Less a backfire and more a direct consequence of the potion she made, Paige and Phoebe switch bodies. Now, a hapless Paige is forced to fend off the withering attack of Cole during martial arts training, as well as his ongoing romantic assault. Fortunately, Paige understands the discomfort that Phoebe has been experiencing with Cole of late and provides Cole with the best advice possible, advice from a sister surprisingly well attuned to Phoebe's woes.
