Vanquishing Cole has not ended Phoebe's woes. The demonic spawn inside her has tremendous powers. Phoebe has already demonstrated her fireball prowess in vanquishing the seductress Julie who wished to carry the Source's evil progeny. Now, it is up to the Seer to steal the demon fetus in order to establish herself as the successor to the Source and to fend off claims by Dane who is about to be coronated the Source.

I was always extremely dissatified with this episode in its portrayal of Phoebe and Cole's child being purely evil, when throughout the series (before and after this episode - most notably in season one's "Secrets & Guys," season four's "Lost & Bound," and season six's "Little Monsters") it's been stated that children are not born good or evil or whether they have "good" or "evil" powers, it's all how the owner uses those powers.
And we know that The Seer knew this, because she was giving Phoebe "evil tonic" to ensure that Phoebe stayed evil and the baby turned out evil. It was not the child's fault that he was being force fed evil tonic. It's the magical equivalent of drinking while pregnant. The baby got the adverse effects, but it wasn't his fault, and yet the sisters (and even his own mother) acted as if he was just this evil spawn from conception! I think Phoebe should've come to terms with the fact that he was not evil, but an unborn innocent (her son no less), and the episode should've contained mourning over his loss instead of, "Well...he destroyed himself and the Seer, now that that's taken care of...."
