I generally loved this fast-paced, exciting episode. Since TNT has chosen to pair this episode with All Hell Breaks Loose, the viewer can get a true sense of the excitement that both episodes present. Yet, there are some troubling moments in this episode. Specifically, there seems to be a wanton disregard for exposure, a lapse all the more shocking since it comes on the heels of Prue's death. Exposure ought to have been of paramount concern for the two surviving sisters. Piper is still wrestling with her grief, while Phoebe wonders whether Piper holds her responsible for Prue's demise. So why does each seem unconcerned when Piper freezes an entire gaggle of women, angry at the chauvinist male colleague they are beating on? Why doesn't Phoebe (and Cole) do more to stop a Piper hell-bent on taking out demons, even if this occurs in broad daylight on a public street? It doesn't make sense!
There are other issues besides. Because Piper is easily able to freeze Cole not once, but twice, we are even further confused about the limits of Piper's powers. Can she freeze upper-level demons easily, with difficulty, or only momentarily? In this episode, she manages to freeze Cole easily.
Piper's powers are still a bit wonky, though this is more a result of her own emotional distress than of her unfamiliarity with the power to blow things up. When Piper first encounters the Furies - actually the smoke emanating from where they are wasting a demon - Piper tries to blow up the gate. She succeeds only in freezing Cole. Then, she blows up the gate and knocks a still frozen Cole clear across the alley. When the Furies appear she tries to freeze them, but only succeeds in freezing Cole (again).
Okay, so the Furies are witches gone bad, consumed by hatred and the desire to avenge. Piper concludes that she can't freeze them. However, how can she so easily freeze Cole? Worse: Cole makes no attempt to break through the freeze as he had previously done. What happens here seems to contradict previous episodes.
