A truly classic Charmed episode that might well have foreshadowed Prue's demise were this a classic literary work. Each of the Charmed One's is afflicted by one of the seven deadly sins. Phoebe is overwhelmed with lust; Piper with gluttony. Prue is affected by an overweaning sense of pride. Leo is affected too, as he becomes the ultimate lazy whitelighter. Greed is another deadly sin that has already led to the demise of an otherwise solid citizen known for his good acts and beneficience towards society.
Each of the sins, bar one, can be overcome by a self-less act. Thus, Piper, in attempting to save Phoebe from death, is freed from the stranglehold of gluttony. Leo, too, is freed when he comes to the aid of Piper. But, pride cannot be so easily overcome. Prue, convinced of her own invincibility, almost loses her life and is rescued only by Leo last minute orbing heroics as Prue has thrust herself into the pits of hell.
