The Reconstituting Rowe Athame

In season one's "When Bad Warlocks Go Good," we discover that the only way to vanquish a member of the Rowe Coven of Warlocks is by a special athame. Brendan Rowe's older brothers kill each other with said athame, and when the oldest brother, Greg, is vanquished, the athame glows and explodes with him in this scene:


However, in season two's "They're Everywhere," Prue and Piper fear that Jack and Dan are warlocks and Prue suddenly pulls out and says:

Oh, remember the troubled priest with the warlock brothers? Well, they left this behind and I’ve sort of hung on to it just in case we needed it for future warlock use.

So the question is, since the Rowe athame exploded, how was it "left behind" for Prue to find and keep for future use? Can this inconsistency be believably explained within the Charmedverse?

Now, this is INTERESTING! Is it possible that the Rowe coven had several special athames and that this was simply one of the leftover ones that Prue picked up? Gosh, I'd hate to have to watch this episode again. It is rather dreary, too Catholic, and a god-awful idea in the first place.
