After six episodes where Billie more or less played a background role, Billie takes centerstage as she battles her first demon. Already reckless to the point where she ignores Paige's words of caution and outright instructions, Billie lurches forward to tackle a demon who might know something about the disappearance of her sister. What seems like a straightforward information gathering excursion to demon occupied Magic School turns dangerous when Billie, encourtering the demon, is seized by fear. Though the Dogen is not necessarily a difficult demon to defeat, Billie cannot muster the courage to vanquish a demon who bears a striking resemblance to the demon who absconded with her older sister Christy.

That was the good bit. And, now for the bad news. Piper decides to turn pesky reporters lurking in her backyard into rats. This use of magic for personal gain or for the sole purpose of harassing admittedly annoying reporters is bad enough. Worse: Piper defends this, when she and Leo are having a marital row, by stating that at least she can undo her magic. But, that's not the point is it? A good witch consciously tries to do no harm. Turning reporters into rats is simply not acceptable!

Another annoying aspect of this otherwise good episode is the incredible waste of talent in vanquishing the Dogon. True, Billie probably needed to vanquish a demon to prove that she was worthy and redeem her desire expressed in Rewitched when she was envious of the Charmed Ones' ability to knock off Antosis. Still, in the Dogon we have a very Source looking creature whose long, pointy nails and eyepatch made of metal conjure a scary image indeed. Yet, Billie is able to vanquish this demon with a simple potion.
Compared to Antosis, who seems a minor street thug, the Dogon has been stealing demonic powers in order to become a leader. Why should it be possible to vanquish him with a potion, while Antosis required a power of three spell? It makes absolutely no sense. Worse: to have the Dogon come back as a recurring character would certainly have spared us the resuscitation of the Triad and the futility of the Ultimate Battle, a battle that was neither.
