An attempt to provide a more credible reason for Billie taking sides against the Charmed Ones is the focus of this episode. After many, many viewings, I am less inclined to write this off as a weak link in the Ultimate Battle story arc.

Okay, this episode does feature the return of our favorite leprechauns. Paige clearly is not happy that she has to recruit them again for another daring mission, i.e., to discover the powerful source of evil that the sisters have found in an uncharted room at Magic School. Paige is a seasoned enough veteran to know that the direct approach probably won't work. The leprechauns remember all too well how they were used as a distraction in Death Becomes Them. Faced with a profound reluctance of the leprechauns to participate in the Ultimate Battle even as scouts, Paige uses her wile to gain leprechaun support by suggesting that she might have to recruit some gnomes. "Their idiots" and clearly not as handsome as the little folk, but they are gamers nonetheless.
After such a promising beginning, the rest of the episode falls flat. The leprechauns are attacked and seek refuge under a table while the Jenkins sisters end the demonic threat. However, why have Christy ask why the demons were there? Doesn't that reveal her familiarity with demons? Are the leprechauns and Billie too stupid to notice? And, didn't Paige warn the leprechauns that the mission was risky? The blame falls fast upon the Charmed Ones, but isn't it the writers who should receive the greater part of the blame for an unconvincing plot that is critical to selling the whole ultimate battle?
