Generally, this is a fun episode that features Grams, Patty and Victor, as well as teenage versions of the Charmed Ones. Leo is generating deep suspicion as Grams "discovers" that the demon tormenting baby Wyatt is a hooded Leo. Of course, as conflicted as Leo is as a result of his vanquish of Gideon, Leo is not to blame. Rather, baby Wyatt has conjured an evil Leo.
Why the conjured Leo is evil is never really explained. Still, baby Wyatt (age 2?) blames himself subconsciously for causing the torment that is plaguing Leo. These concocted nightmares, though false, are powerful enough that they take on a reality on their own. Hence, we see the nightmare that is evil Leo physically threatening baby Wyatt.
Magic must surely play a role in this, especially when we learn later that Piper underwent a similar experience when she was younger. Her night tremors focused on the breakup between Patty and Victor. Like baby Wyatt, Piper blamed herself for the split.
This episode also introduces us to a new Seer. Charisma Carpenter comes aboard as Kira the Seer. Ambiguous with respect to her demonic nature, Kira lends an ear to Leo not once, but twice, though the second time reveals a great reluctance on her part to tangle with the crazed Elder Leo. After all, tormented Leo is prone to violent outbursts that run counter to his normally passive demeanor.
Grams, of course, appears because Paige and Phoebe wish to have a wiccaning for baby Chris. Piper is not thrilled at this prospect, especially after the experience the Charmed Ones had during the wiccaning of baby Wyatt. Though the Necromancer has been banished and his helper vanquished, the threat lurking in Necromancing the Stone is not present.
Sibling rivalry between Chris and Wyatt is a problem, though. Grams reaches into her personal book of spells to come up with a remedy. Success is only partially achieved as the rivalry is banished from the baby boys. Instead, it infects the three sisters who find themselves behaving like petty, selfish and immature teenagers bickering among themselves and afraid to face demons.
While caught in this dysfunctional adolescence, Piper learns from Grams that she and Grams had had the talk while Grams was alive. Piper is grossed out since she does not wish to relive the sex talk with Grams. Unfortunately, that's not what Grams had in mind. Rather, she reminds Piper of the "witch" talk that she had had with Piper.
That is quite a revelation not only for Piper, but for fans as well. First, this revelation flatly contradicts the mythology constructed since episode one. Their powers bound, none of the sisters has any clue that they are witches to be. So, how could Piper have ever had a witch talk with Grams. Worse: none of the sisters ever suspected that Grams or Patty - for that matter - were witches.
As troubling as this revelation is, it is made worse by the fact that it follows the disaster that was Witchstock. During that Season 6 episode, it was postulated that Grams was a participant in the flower power movement in San Francisco. Though she would appear to be too old for such a role, this "error" paled in comparison to the sudden change in husbands and grandfathers. Husband number one, as depicted in Pardon My Past, was Jack Halliwell, not Alan. Was Alan a Halliwell? Jack was also portrayed as the Charmed Ones' grandfather, as Patty was the daughter of Jack and Penny. So, why is Alan suddenly the Charmed Ones' grandfather. Bad, writers, bad!
